Capacity attenuation mechanism of 18650 columnar lithium ion battery

[abstract]:the capacity attenuation mechanism of  18650 commercial  lithium ion battery  at room temperature was studied. The results show that the capacity decay rate of 18650 cylindrical cellsis 12.91% after 500 cycles. XRD, SEM, EIS and CV were used to characterize the cells after circulation. The electro chemical impedance diagrams show that the resistance of the battery, especially the charge transfer resistance, increases with the cycle. At the same time, cyclic voltammetry test shows that the reversible performance of lithium ion removal decreases in the later stage of the cycle, leading to capacity attenuation. This is because electrolyte and electrode material side reactions occur at the interface between positive and negative electrode materials, repeatedly forming solid electrolyte interface film.
